How to Rig
Traveller Rig
Deployed after hooking a fish and used purely to protect your catch.
- Pre-rig SharkGuard with a clip on one end and a weight at the other.
- On hooking a fish, immediately attach the “SharkGuard Traveller Rig” to your mainline.
- Allow the rig to rapidly travel down to the “mainline stop” where it will start to provide fish protection.
- Aim to get the traveller rig to the stop in <1min to reduce the probability of a shark interaction.
- For deeper waters, use a heavier weight on the traveller rig.
- Ensure the distance between the line clip and SharkGuard is 6 inches less than between the main line stop and your hook.
Offline
Deployed constantly and swings into place once you start to retrieve
- Attach SharkGuard to the sinker line from a 3-way swivel.
- Ensure SharkGuard is about 6 inches (150mm) above the hook when retrieving.
Inline
Protects bait and catch where its presence will not deter target species
- Connect your main line to one end of SharkGuard.
- Attach your hook or lure to the other end.
- Keep about 6 inches (150mm) between SharkGuard and hook for optimal protection.
- Pro tip: Use clips for quick gear changes throughout the day.
How to change the battery
- SharkGuard is fitted with indicator lights to let you know its working
- Green flash for 2 minutes when removed from the water shows the device is working
- Red flash for 2 minutes when removed from the water shows the battery needs changing
- A green flash for few seconds when the new battery is installed shows the device is ready
Health Warning
SharkGuard emits a pulsed electric current when in seawater to prevent shark depredation: Anyone with any Electronic Medical Device (EMD) or Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs) such as a pacemaker, who is pregnant, or has a health condition which could be affected by electric currents, should consult a medical expert before use. Exposure to an activated SharkGuard when in seawater may cause muscle spasms and as such, users should refrain from making contact with SharkGuard when activated. SharkGuard automatically turns off and the electric current is deactivated when it is removed from seawater.
